Community involvement

  • Currently serving my third year on the Board of Directors for Community Volunteer Connections
  • Recently appointed to serve on the Habitat for Humanity Family Partnering Committee for a Coquitlam housing project
  • In 2016 I co-founded the TriCities Friends of Refugees Task Group which I am proud to Chair
  • I represent the TriCities Friends of Refugees task group on a BC Ministry TriCities Committee: Organizing Against Racism and Hate (OARH)
  • I am active with the Talk of the Town Toastmasters Club and recently won the Inspirational Speech contest

  • Facilitated the building and installing of a Little Free Library in Burquitlam Community Garden.  
  • My family and I are active in the Adopt-a-Street litter control program. I regularly organize well-attended community litter clean-up events
  • I started up a SunRun Training clinic was a clinic manager and running leader for multiple years
  • I’ve been heavily involved in local education as PAC executive: 8 years on an elementary PAC, 5 years on a middle school PAC and 2 years – with more to come – on a secondary PAC.
  • I’ve been serving on the District 43 PAC executive since 2010
  • In my capacity as DPAC43 executive, I served on the Tri-Cities Traffic Safety Committee
  • Took the lead on starting a Breakfast Program at a Coquitlam elementary school
  • I covered community events for the print and web publication SNAP Coquitlam/snapd TriCities over 5 calendar years
  • Two years prior to being elected I was appointed to Coquitlam Sports Council Advisory Committee
  • I have extensive involvement as a longtime volunteer for various community initiatives including SHARE Family & Community Services, the Cold Wet Weather Mat program for the homeless, Raise-a-Reader literacy campaigns, Operation Red Nose safe ride home, organizing Terry Fox runs, Pink Shirt Day Anti-Bullying, Shoreline CleanUp, various telethons, the 55+ BC Summer Games – and more.
